courage

My experience has been that courage doesn’t render anxiety, nervousness or fear null and void.

My apologies, I don’t know the true origin, but Nelson Mandela (and a few others) are credited with saying, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.”

Courage is simply honoring the decision to walk despite the internal or external trembling/shaking.

Courage is repeatedly rising up despite the tripping/falling down regardless of the number of times…just, regardless.

More and more, it seems our circles (family, school, religious, work, affiliates/organizations etc) ask that we conform to what has been decided is “acceptable”.

I’m practicing and encouraging my children to practice living by this phrase:

“Courage over conformity”

So, I ask the same of you my fellow human/traveler/warrior – choose courage.

If something keeps coming to your heart…even if it’s different, even if it’s something you haven’t seen around you, even if it’s unfamiliar…courage to you.

Common Day Hero: PrabhaChechi, I’m so happy to receive your phone calls and messages. When crisis hit, your love became such an encouragement and strength. I AM grateful beyond words. Today, I dedicate this post to you.

fourteen

This week, my eldest turned FOURteen!

And despite da Vid, we celebrated it up…the day was ranked a 10/10!

Grateful for life, for the gift of celebrating another birthday, for good health and new beginnings!

This week, I’ve been thinking about a few of the simple delights children bring:

loads of laughter

all levels of silliness

kindness

faith (my kids’ prayers are comforting/healing)

Naming simple delights, doubles the joy and on difficult days, brings relief/comfort to me.

Who/what are some simple delights currently in your life?

Common Day Hero: Jillian, Mathew, Lea, Ty ~ you bring such joy to our lives. Grateful for your squeals of delight, all the laughs and those hugs. Praising The Divine for each of you and dedicating this post to you, with so much love.

vaccine

DaCovid and DeVyress hit our family and I realized (again) how much I’m grateful for and how much I don’t even think about on a daily basis. Like what, ya say?

Just getting out of bed! Going to the mail box! Going to the store. Enjoying nature. Spending time with loved ones.

Speaking of da Vid…I wish we could be kind to one another in this. As an empath, I’m feeling it all and it is so…heavy.

Vaccine or no vaccine – let love lead us all.

A childhood verse came to mind; Verse Fourteen of Chapter Three in the Book of Colossians (The Bible) states: “And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony”.

Such a fitting verse…for many occasions, but it kept coming up for me, now.

May we choose to clothe ourselves with love, even when we don’t understand or agree…for that, my fellow human and friend, is a true sign of love.

What is one way you can show love this week…especially to those whom you disagree with and/or don’t understand?

Common Day Hero: You’re a natural leader; gifted with many talents and skills. People gravitate towards you because you have a genuine/rare quality of placing all who are around you, at ease. May you extend to your own heart the grace you so easily extend to others. You are loved so deeply. Today, I dedicate this post to you, dear Niel.

23

Psalm 23 is a childhood favorite of mine. A reminder that I’m never alone; I’m provided for and taken care of…always. It comes to mind occasionally and this week, it kept coming up for me, so here ’tis for all.

The Lord is My Shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23 continues to be a prayer, a meditative piece and a source of reassurance for me.

I believe these words carry so much value for me because they speak comfort, peace, protection, favor and healing.

Which Scriptures, songs, poems bring you comfort and encouragement?

May I suggest that we meditate on one daily and memorize one a week?

Common Day Hero: Your devotion to the “least of these” is inspiring. Your heart for equality and equity for all is such a gift. I look forward to seeing and hugging you again…air hugs for now and I dedicate this post to you, SusannaT.

CurryCountryGirl

Have you ever had a dream that you let fade away…a dream that you let wither and die? Maybe because the opinions of others carried more weight (in your mind) than your own…maybe family obligations took priority…maybe further education…work…or a plethora of other reasons?

Death is not final because The Divine can resurrect anyone/anything -anywhere/anytime if it’s meant to be!

I think most of us are thrilled to hear resurrection stories, but we ain’t tryna hear nothin’ about death…which must occur for there to be a resurrection! Are you ready to believe again? To make room for resurrection or a new birth?

I thought my personal dream of singing country music with a curry kick was long gone. So much life kept happening and I allowed my heart to be ignored, trampled on, dismissed…by myself…and others.

A few years ago, I began letting my heart breathe again. I decided that regardless of what happens externally, I would prioritize my heart. SO grateful that I made that choice…it is why I’m here today!

I decided to pursue my dreams and enjoy the process!

So…I started writing again last year (thoughts, prayers, songs). I started this blog in 20twenty.

This spring, I began proactively working on changing the color of my urine to a “healthier” one…consistently!

And the dream…that one that I allowed to be resurrected…I’m singing again, for the love of it! I went to the studio to record! I started a “professional” instagram account and I had my first photo session for my music this week!

I AM CurryCountryGirl (to see what’s poppin’ ~ follow me on instagram @currycountrygirl).

Which dreams do YOU want to resurrect (or allow to be resurrected) this week?

What’s one step you can take towards breathing life into your dreams again?

Everything you need is within you. Give it your all…YOU got this and The Divine has you!

Common Day Hero: On our first conversation via tele (when I was not at my best), you were kind and gentle. Upon meeting in person, it was immediately evident that you embody the Light and Love of Heaven. Delighted that we are becoming better acquainted. LaurenM, I dedicate this post to you.

women

Every one has a story to tell…this week, I’m remembering the empowering stories of just a few of the women in the Holy Bible. Following is a list of sorts –

From Sarah, we learn that age ain’t nothiN but a number – the Divine shines in what humans deem “impossible”.

Hagar shows us that the Divine always sees us (Hagar called the Divine, El-Roi, the One who sees…to see is to know and to know is to feel – the Divine sees/knows/feels it all with us).

Rahab is a reminder that the Divine loves us ALL…equally and has no favorites because each of us are favored!

Hannah shows us that the Divine answers prayers.

Ruth teaches us that the Divine is our Kinsman Redeemer and has Final Say!

Jael (Yaa-el) shows us that the Divine doesn’t discriminate…in any way.

Esther tells us the Divine can turn the heart of the King/Queen/dignitaries -through you…and me. We are Powerful and even more so, when Led by the Ultimately Powerful and Gentle One!

Elizabeth reminds us that we will give birth to Greatness beyond our imagination…whether that’s through childbirth, business, mentoring, empowering/nurturing others…we, as women, birth empires, after-all!

Mother Mary shows us the Divine will surprise, care for and protect us…even in the most interesting circumstances!

The “unnamed woman” with a blood disorder is a testament that the Divine is Our Great Physician and Healer.

Mary and Martha tell us that Resurrection happens!

Women – our faith, our choice to love ourselves first/well, our pursuit of our dreams are ever telling a story – one of tenacity, stamina, Wisdom, fierce loyalty and sisterhood.

Fellow Sister Warrior, I AM here, beside you, for you, warring alongside you, sitting in the shit with you and always available to hear your story!

Common Day Hero: The seemingly permanent has suddenly turned temporary (more times that you’d probably care to count), but one thing remains certain – the Divine holds you! Your faith continues to encourage many. Today, I dedicate this post to you, Euni.

anger

Anger, I was told was a very bad thing. I was taught that only those who had not fully given themselves to God, had it! Sadly, for quite a bit of my life, I carried so much guilt and shame around that.

What I’ve since learned is:

Anger isn’t a waste of energy; it isn’t worthless; it isn’t bad or negative; it simply is…

We are alright to get angry…to allow ourselves to feel anger. Anger is an emotion.

It is our action/choices when angry that can be negative. May we not cause ourselves, or others, harm.

Anger is valid. Anger serves a purpose: it typically highlights something that needs our attention.

Find healthy ways for your mind, body, heart to process anger: therapy, spiritual guidance, a support group…

Almost always, anger is a secondary emotion.

Find out what’s behind that anger. Is it hurt, sadness, disappointment, fear…childhood trauma?

Take time to process and talk through the anger. You’re not alone in it. We’re on this journey together: processing, learning, growing – on the daily.

Common Day Hero: You are faithful in the small things. Even when life threw so much negative your way, you remained steady, especially in faith. Grateful for your words of truth always. Sharonda, I dedicate this post to you.

school

A new school year has begun…some of you still have a few days (or more) before school begins – enjoy!

My kids are SO excited about their new school – I’m overjoyed…especially considering all the shit they had to walk through since the Vid arrived. The Vid isn’t to blame; it just shone a light on all that had been bubbling underneath.

Although it was painful beyond our ability to accurately express it…although it isn’t what we wanted…although we wouldn’t wish it on anyone, we can now see that it was necessary.

Necessary, for us to move past barely existing into living the best version of our lives.

How do you know if you’re living your best life? It most likely varies for us all, but what we know is –

We have Peace, Love, Joy and a Song in our hearts…daily!

We are safe!

We have a base of Gratitude!

We have a sense of fulfillment in our work/play!

We are learning something new everyday!

We are content – in a smaller space, with less things and so much more Freedom and Liberty!

We really needed these pets (three cats!).

Whatever is in the way (including yourself), work to remove all obstacles so that you can breathe…live…thrive!

Common Day Hero: You are a Sensitive Soul, a Prophetess, and a Fellow Warrior. I AM honored to have you in my life. Keep shining – this world is better because of your Light. Kindred Spirit, Destiny, I dedicate this post to you.

planet

Another year on this planet…another trip around the sun…another birthVersary…another celebration this week!

I AM offering praises for being here – fully present, undeniably free, in Peace and immensely grateful.

This year, I told friends that the only gift I wanted were words…just notes/letters.

What I wanted was to simply hear/see the words that were on the hearts of those whom I hold dear.

Words are powerful. Words create. Words heal. Words encourage. Words empower. Words restore.

This year, I committed to live my best life in every way and am immersing myself fully into all my interests!

What do you want to do with another year on the planet…what is it you want to accomplish in your world/circle?

May I encourage you not to be hindered in your pursuits…in any way?

We need not be “good” by anyone’s standards (including our own inner critic) to pursue our talents, dreams and interests. Just give everything ya like a shot – at least we would’ve risked and gained rather than later regretting.

Not being hindered also allows us to hold our plans loosely…and pivot accordingly.

Here’s to us, as we pursue, life (fully/freely from the heart), Liberty (already granted; we simply choose to receive) and the pursuit of happiness (be unhindered ~ as long as we aren’t hindering or hurting anyone, it’s all good).

Common Day Hero: You bring such delight to everyone around you. The way you take things in, your attention to detail, your knowledge, your irresistible smile, your contagious laugh and your kindness touch my life in more ways than you may know. LuGa, I dedicate this post to you.

healing

Healing is miraculous, at times.

Healing is available through herbs, essential oils, nature and all that Mother Earth has to offer.

Healing comes through modern medicine…scientific/technological advancements.

Healing is taking deep breaths, singing, exercise, journaling, dancing, therapy, drawing, meditation, listening to music, coloring, reading, time in nature, stating affirmations, spending time with friends (human and/or animals!), etc.

Healing is heaven ~ we sing about it, talk about it, quote verses about it but ain’t nobody tryna make a trip today!

I have been Asking the Divine for healing in the form of a miracle for so many people in my life right now.

My eyes are filled with tears on a daily basis.

My heart is heavy and I’m taking deep/full breaths throughout the day.

I’m releasing ~ envisioning balloons (and at times bubbles) floating up to Heaven so that I no longer carry any weight.

Are you carrying any weight around a health test, a diagnosis/prognosis, a job, a relationship, something else that is traumatic/unexpected…painful, heart-breaking?

What helps bring healing to your heart? Incorporate one item into your day.

Healing is doing what YouR heart needs!

Your heart is WORTH it!

On the journey with you, fellow Warrior…always!

Common Day Hero: You are a devoted prayer warrior. Countless individuals have benefitted from your prayers (me and my children included). Thankful for your love, kindness and prayers. Elsie, today, I dedicate this post to you.
